HVAC 101: An Air Handler is an electric furnace with a refrigeration coil in the same cabinet. If you combine a modular blower with a cased coil, you have the air handler function, with 2 separate cabinets.

101: VARIABLE SPEED MOTORS (which operate at approximately 1/6 the cost of a standard fan motor and cost about the same as a 75 watt light bulb when left in "ON" position). This is a great feature and makes the whole house more comfortable, constantly moving the warm or cool air. Goodman uses G.E. variable speed motors.

Cased Coils added to a gas furnace or modular blower gives you the capability of having A/C or Heat Pump applications.
Installing the correct indoor or evaporator coil is essential for getting the highest performance and comfort from your central air conditioning or heat pump system. As indoor air passes through the indoor or evaporator coil, humidity is removed, which creates ‘cooler’ indoor air. For best performance, it is recommended that you install a Goodman® brand coil with a Goodman brand air conditioner or heat pump system.
